He means the gear ration. Like on my R6 I went from stock (16/48..16 teeth in front and 48 in rear) to a 15/50. I am not sure on the R1 what the ideal ratio is.

Well I ordered AFAM sprockets. I went with 15- 43 ratio. Kevin at Kneedraggers was fairly intelligent on the topic. I will be doing a how to once I get them in. I went with th RIK 520GBXW chain. This set up should be good for the track. Please if leave any suggestions or experiences that you have had with a 520 conversion.

i prefer the stock 530 myself. i find the 520 stretches more (even though they claim it to have higher tensile strength than stock).

just make sure your chain has the rivet link, not the master clip style.

as far as gearing goes, it's all personal preference. i've tried them all. and i've settled on stock or +2 in the rear.

Yeah I have herd that 520's do strech a bit more but you save weight. With afam/kneedraggers I couldn't go up in the rear I could only go down in the front but I think I will be happy with it, its like going up 2 in the rear

Really it depends on the track you're riding at and your riding style. Unfortunately theres not one all inclusive ratio. Ask around what people on your model bike are running at that particular track, and use that as your baseline. If you're running an R1 as your first track bike, I'd advise against getting too extreme.
