exup valve/motor.

well saturday night I got caught in a pretty bad rain storm. So yesterday I go and start my bike, the exup motor makes its usual noises but then all of a sudden it sticks and theres like this buzzing noise coming out of the motor. Anybody else ever have this problem after driving in the rain????

Anyways I ended up taking everything apart, found some rusted contacts in the casing. I ended up resoldering all the contacts and put it back together. It seems to work now but seriously this exup system is such a pain and a waste of space/extra weight.

your right, an aftermarket system will take care of the exup, but in the mean time, make sure you keep it free from rust. you can lube the pivot point everyonce and a while to keep it from water penetrating it. you can use a high temp anti-seize which will hold up to water and the temp.

Yup, sealing that joint up will help solve the problem.

I suggest just suing some Red RVT Silicon (The high temp stuff)

might be off topic but if you ever get a full system...

That's one reason I went with a full Graves Ti system. The exup valve does have some advantages, but the performance gains, especially between 7-8k rpm are staggering. Plus you save almost 10 pounds of weight. Only bad thing is the check engine light stays on, which if a new problem arises you won't know about it.

DoubleZ - You running out at the track at all?

You all have me worried about my EXup now...cause I know I have rode in the rain one too many times.

well i fixed the problem. There was some rust on a couple of the contacts for the motor that runs teh exup and i dont think it was properly grounding, and the spark may have been jumping. So I took everything apart resoldered all the contacts put it back in and reinstalled it and now its good as new no more clicking.
