I thought I would share my winter project.


1 week ago I purchased my first 1000cc motorcycle. The 2004 R1. Knowing the type of riding I do, I chose to go with a older wrecked bike. Most of my riding takes place at Deals Gap or the track so a shiny new bike really didn't fit the bill.


This is what the bike looked like when I found it on one of the boards that I frequent.

After agreeing to the purchase I drove to pick the bike up. I didn't realize that the guy had already purchased the parts to repair the broken platics, and he had already put it together for me.

Picked the bike up last Wed and got it home on Thursday. Saturday night I took all the fairings off and started to plan. Come sunday morning it was time to make it look better. I decided to go with a Rattle Can paint job. Mainly it goes back to for the riding I do, it doesn't have to be perfect.

So, in only 3 days of prep, paint, and getting logo's re-cut. I now have it ready to go.

Nice, it's like an 03 R6. Very cool of the seller to give you all the new bits.

Very nice work....... my R6 basically looks like the crashed pic right now. Just waiting for the paperwork from the insurance money. It's amazing how many people want crashed bikes....I've already had three offers.

Clear title. Sorry I am not going to disclose how much I have in it, in case I want to sell it later. But I feel that I am in it at a great price.
