So I have been doing some thinking and like to get the opinions of ppl who have had more than 1 R1. Which one did you like and why? And if you can compare and note the positives of the different gens. Thanks

on a sidenote: Somehow I think I have a R1 fetish cus after getting my '01 and upgrading to the '03 I am now looking around for some '04's. Dispite reading that the 02-03 is the best R1 to ride on the street, something about the '04 is drawing me in.

Well i find my 06 to be a great street bike. I think the major difference between the 02/03 and 04/06 is that the 02/03 has more power down low in the powerband. The 04/06 are a little more placid under 7000 rpms. And after 8000 the power kicks in like a fuckin rocket.

So after getting my '04, I can admit that the 02/03 makes a better streetbike due to the lower gearing and the quick access to power. However the 04-06 are soo smooth that you dont mind the lack of omph, plus around town you tend to be in 1st and 2nd due to the high gearing.

I do have to say the newer R1's are FREAKING LIGHT!!!! Just moving it around, it feels 20lb lighter than the previous gen R1. And ontop of that its more comfortable to ride for long distances.

Have to say this '04 has me :hyper about riding. Even with its short-comings, I couldnt be happier with owning a bike that rides as good as it looks.

I know I couldn't be happier with my 06 R1....it's the best bike I've owned by far.

I have them both, 02 & 04. I like them both about the same, but each has its own ups and downs!
