After spending the weekend breaking in the pilot powers I love this bike. It just wants to lean over and likes it fast. I caught myself going past 7k a few times. Did you guys follow the break in method as stated in the manual. First 600mi not past 7k and 1000mi not past 8k. I don't think I can hold off for to much longer. I have about 400mi on her now so I'm almost there before I can open her up.

The manual says no prolonged operation above the stated break in rpms. Of corse I went over 7k on rpms but not until I had a few hundred miles on her. I would run it up to 8or9 and let it come down... and gradualy run up to 9 or 10. But the key word is prolonged operation . You don't want to bang it for extended use above the rpm limits...a quick burst wont hurt. I never hit a run at red line until I got to 800-1000 miles. After 800 I figured I was close enough, but never kept it up there. After 1000 game on.

That's pretty much what I have been doing. It's gonna get the first oil change sometime next week if stops raining. Then I'll be able to play on it.

I don't know I always broke in my bikes like the manual says but I know of many people who ride the piss out of their new bikes and never have a problem. Mind you most dont do it within the first 100 or so miles but hey either way these bikes for the most part are pretty tough as far as the motors go.

I figure if it's gonna let go, it'll let go within the first few months if I'm breaking it in on the track. Warranty will cover it.

Did you go with 190/50 or 180/55 PP's?

you i would assume....

i say ring it out, but dont prolong the higher revs until about 1000 600 miles or so. but you wanna vary the revs and put some pressure on the engine to seat the seals...

I've been doing that. I made an appointment for friday to get the oil changed for the first time.

And Chunk if you were asking me I put the 190/50 PP's on.
