I got my '05 up 170MPH on Saturday! It was fukin' scary, straight lane highway hardly any cars -- that is the fastest I hav ever been! I'm not sure but I think I was at around 10,000 or 11,00RPM in six gear, which is wierd cause I've done 160HPM id 5th gear before. Anyway, my bike is completely stock except for a K&N air Filter. My friend has a stock '03 R1 and says that he has done 178MPH on it, I know the 05 can do more I was still pulling like a funny car at 170MPH but I decided that I pushed my luck far enough not to be on a track and closed the trottle! What speeds have some other people reached(Stock or Mods) and was it on the track or the street?

I can get up to that on the straight at my track in 5th gear ( 04-R1 ) but you have to back off for turn 1:lol


I would not do it on the street as I need my licence :lol

I've had mine up to 186 several times (on a back country road:myfault ). Last year at Daytona Bike week, a Yamaha factory rep told me that the speedo is programmed to stop at 186....the same is true for my '05 GIXXER 1K. Fact is, these speedos are notoriously "off" by up to 15% (There have been many articles in bike magazines about this). I just got a SpeedoHealer to correct the problem (haven't installed it yet). Once I get it installed, I'll run parallel to my brother to see just how far off it is

i think they mean they dont want to lose their liscence... on that note, i have gotten my 05 up to 180something i didnt want to look down anymore on a 2mile straight up at king mtn.... and i have gotten my 06 r1 up to about 2.5mph pusshing it around in my garage :thumbup
