Well, the past month has been an R1 nightmare from a mechanical standpoint. So the other day im riding pull in the clutch and the bike stalls .... first time, i didnt care oh well. but then I went to turn the bike on and it stalled again, and again. finally i turned the key off turned it on again and it ran fine. That was weird but then it started doing it again every now and then.
When it stalls and i just flick the kill switch and press the starter it still stalls but if i turn the key and then start it, it works fine. So anyways after about a month of playing with it I think it maybe a problem with my TPS, as stated in a huge post on the r1-forum.
Also, while I was playing around with that, I took off my lower fairing on the right side of my R1. I take out the screw thats attached to the oil pan, next thing I know oil is flying out of the screw hole. I think the idiot that owned the bike before me replaced that screw with one that was too long and punchered the oil pan .... so theres more money :weeping hopefully this all ends sometime soon and I can go back to enjoying my bike.
Wow that blows mate,
The only time my bike stalled was just after I had my system put on and the pc mapped. It only hapened the first week end of riding. I have no idea why but its was fine after that and has not happend since :D

no kiddin git blows, but i think I found the problem and it hasnt stalled since I cleaned my TPS sensors so hopefully thats it. Thye were pretty dirty and I think that may have caused the problem. Actually im almost 100% sure that caused the problem, so anyways after a few hours of labor its running like a champ and it didnt cost me too much !!!!
The oil pan on the otherhand was a $150 hit to the wallet ..... i guess the velocity stacks are going to have to wait for a bit, oh well I got the winter to worry about that. Bikes going away pretty soon :weeping

well after 4000kms of riding my TPS has failed me again. It stalls in traffic, like many other R1 riders from what I have heard. So im going to see what yamaha has to say about it. Its almost trade in time for the ol R1 so based on how they treat me they will either give me a new tps for free ......... or ill buy a new 2007 cbr1000rr if they change it or a zx10.

ya im still waiting to here back from yamaha, hoping something gets done. Although I got to ride a black and grey 2006 gsxr 1k, mmmmmm that was fun. But yamaha seems to be being nice about it so far. My bikes sitting at the dealer right now ..... hopefully they pay for it, since alot of people have apparently been having this problem. I've had 2 r6s and this is my first R1 and the only bike ive had a problem with so i cant really complain too much. Its just a piss off since its a mint bike, it was babied and i still cant drive it because of a design flaw.
btw last year the part number for this part ended in 100, now its 200, so yamaha I think seen a problem and changed the part design, i guess they just decided that it wasn't worth calling a recall. I guess they just hope people dont get killed and take their chances .......

^ sounds like you are right and the part has been "upgraded" in production.
Whilst it is always nice to have a new bike I would definitely wait to see the 2007 litre bike line up before making a decision.
Good luck getting your 1 fixed.
