So check this out...... I was out riding today and all of a sudden I noticed that I was having a hard time shifting through the gears. It was really hard to get it into to neutral too, it would pass through it each time. But then sometimes when I was riding......it would shift fine. The only thing that I can say might've happened is that when I came down off a wheelie I may have step on the shift lever kinda hard......but I didn't as far as I know. But anyhow, to get at the shift-drum and forks and all that other shit do I have to drop the crankcase or can I access it from the sides? Let me know if you need any other info....

I posted some info but due to not reading your post properly it pertained to an R6 and would have no relevence to an R1. Sorry.

If I remember correctly you have to drop the crankcase...check the service manual its on here and u can download it for free.
