Hello all! I'm new to the board and did a search but could not find the answer I needed so I decided to post a thread about it.
I have a 1998 R1 with about 22k miles on it and is currently in the shop for shifting issues. I'm hoping they are going to tell me that it is something simple like my clutch needs to be adjusted or I just need a new clutch. Something in my years of riding tells me its something else. Here's the issue:
When I'm in neutral and I shift down to first it doesn't want to go in. I have to rock it back and forth to get it to catch OR I can use the method of finding the sweet spot of where it will catch. Once in gear I can go through all my gears by using clutchless shifting. Down shifting is also not an issue. So I'll ASSUME that my gears are all fine. Its only when I'm in neutral is when it gives me an issue. So I narrowed it down to 3 things, my clutch (needs adjusting or needs to be replaced due to the fibers and whatnot) my dogs/tranny are bad or my shift fork.
Anywho, if worst comes to worst and I have to replace my tranny, will a 2001 R1 tranny fit into my 1998 motor?
