: Why the R1??
needtoride 10-12-2005, 05:01 PM I'm thinking about the R1. I'm at altitude here in denver and go on rides taking me up to 12,000 feet. More power than the 04 r6 would be fun.
Alright guys, i've heard all the answers in my R6 forum, with the various threads on this topic, but i'd like to hear the other view:
Tell me why i want the R1 !!! :D
Thanks,
-Matt
What it comes down to Matt, is what you want from a bike.
You will get 1000's of positives and just as many negatives from people.
This is a good thread and has alot of good info about the R1.

All as I can say is that its need's more respect than the 6 and mature brain inside the helmet:D
In the end it all comes down to you.
It is a SEXY bike and so much fun to Ride :hitit

WORD! The r1 isn't a toy you can just punish here and there. It definately is a wild beast!! On the r6, I didn't get scared whacking on throttle. But man, the r1... it freaks me out when I gun it!!!
needtoride 10-13-2005, 11:24 AM Thats a good link. Great info guys.
I want an R1 !
I want an R1 !
:lol We all said that before :thumbup
onewheel 10-13-2005, 05:57 PM i think the fear that translates into respect for the bike - thats a major selling point, theres a major hype for the R1, ive read tonnes of review's on the GSXR / CBRR1000 / R1 - and every review has the R1 showing its wildside, and most times un intentionally. Since buying my R1 - I've learnt to Ride, and thats why i'll keep owning R1's

Well said.:D
Its funny about reading reports in diff mags. The reports i've read have all said the Zx10 is the wildest followed by the gsxr, then the R1 and cbr is the tamest bike of the 4 .:lol
Its a bit like the weather, every chanel has a different forcast for the same day :rollin
onewheel 10-13-2005, 08:55 PM Yeah ive heard funny things about the ZX10 - some people say it can eat a busa, i dunno - I ride a '00' R1, i havent ridden an injected model yet, i have heard the 04 & 05 R1 are more 'sensible' than previous models.....how that translates is a difference of opinions...but i get the feeling that means the earlier models are a bit more 'raw'....i dont see many ZX10's around though.....mabye i can give one a run in the name of research?
mar1tian 10-14-2005, 04:06 PM ive drag raced busa's before and take them all the time mind you thats not by much at all, stock bike vs stock bike of course. The r1 can hang pretty damn good with them all, its all about the rider. I wasn't even thinking about buying an r1 till i walked in the dealer one and day and a week later walked out with an r1 , haha. the large amount of torque is the biggest plus i think, it definately puts a smile on your face when you wack it and the front comes up with ease.

Aaahh that would be fun. :worship
My six, at denver altitude, just gets really light in the steering when i punch it in second.
onewheel 10-14-2005, 07:13 PM your damn right, its all about Torque....
tetsuo 10-15-2005, 04:19 PM for the money you pay, there's a no better deal than an r1.
around 11 grand for a sexy monster... no doubt... its worth every penny and then some!!
the pimp factor that comes with it is a bonus!
