sxlova07 09-28-2005, 04:09 PM So one of the issues with my '01 R1 is that I have to start it with the kickstand up and using the clutch because the bike thinks its in gear. Currently the neutral light does not light up. Is there a neutral switch or something? I am sure its not a complicated issue...slightly annoying cus I have to sit on the bike while it warms up. Sometimes they get all 'gunked' up and stick a little. sxlova07 10-14-2005, 09:01 PM where is the neutral switch located? I browsed through the owners manual and couldnt find a mention of it. AFC 10-14-2005, 09:24 PM When you put the sidestand up, it activates a switch. Take a look near the pivot of the sidestand and you should see a booted switch. Not saying that cleaning will solve the problem, as the switch itself may not even be the problem. But it is a good place to start. The service manual should have the troubleshooting guide in it.
