: 07 R1 wheelies....
Doug TheHead 07-11-2007, 10:36 AM So ive finally put some milage on the R1 after all of the rain we have been getting and I must say, it doesnt wheelie quite like I had expected it to.
I had the 2nd gear clutch ups down on the 03 R6 but something is really weird with the 07 R1. Of course this is the first day for me to attempt wheelies since I have passed the break in period but I figured it would take much less RPM.
An older R1 that I had ridden, I could just blip the throttle in 2nd and get the front to float up... Now my front end doesnt come up that easy when im clutching it from 8-9k. Hrmmm, i'll try again tomorrow where I can work on them.
Karonic 07-11-2007, 12:51 PM I was never a wheelie king but I have had trouble getting the front up on command too. Sometimes it will sometimes it won't but it's usually unwanted anyway.
gotchopsticks 07-11-2007, 02:02 PM i noticed its alot easier in 1st gear ccruising at ~5k, then slipping the clutch. i am just starting to do it on mine also, but this bike is much harder than my old r6 as well. might have something to do with the tiny sprocket and being geared to do 101mph in 1st, lol
Sean714 07-11-2007, 03:35 PM no wheelies for me on the 07 :(
Karonic 07-11-2007, 04:55 PM Yeah, we don't need anymore accidents :whistle
RedRum 07-11-2007, 05:07 PM 520 race conversion... makes the R1 a wheelie machine :rollin

thats what the stunt bike is for :lol
Karonic 07-11-2007, 06:52 PM ^ You have a stunt bike? Thank god!!! I was beginning to think I would never catch up:p What about the track bike?
Doug, here's another reference ---> Click here (http://www.r1messagenet.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5418&posted=1#post5418) <--- it's probably not very helpful though.
Sean714 07-12-2007, 02:37 AM track is too expensive...I can stunt in a parking lot everyday.
Doug TheHead 07-12-2007, 11:29 AM Do yall know anything about the YCCI for first and second gear on the R1? Apparently it cuts power for first and second.... which seems like it will make wheelies really tricky.

^ Do this and it's wheelie on command, like push button starts for cars :lol ( The race conversion is -1/+2 )
But stock it's not that hard, just takes some getting used to the response.
Karonic 07-12-2007, 03:34 PM With the R1 you really dont need the -1, kind of an overkill just to do wheelies.

Indeed, but he asked for an easier way to do them :lol
My intentions were solely for racing, and quickly discovered how prone it became to wheelies after said modification.

got mine replaced...night and day difference for low end acceleration. If you clutch it...you don't have to worry about the lag. :p

Looking at an 02 F4i today...sold the track bike...for the stunt bike...that way if I really want to go to the track I'll just take the R1.
