it's easy with an R1. 1st gear- pull clutch in all the way, rev engine to 10000rpm, let clutch out real fast like. voila, wheelie time!

10,000 rpm! My bike comes up at about 6500 or so with no clutch. That method will put you on the pavement

sorry, i was hoping no one took me seriously....you should be able to bounce it up in second, roll on it in first depending on skill level.

Shorty, Ive got no skills as far as throwing a wheelie , so I will go with the 10k option.

I'll post some pics up after I have mastered it :lol

there should not be a wheelie thread on this board. the r1 will almost do one anytime you want just by giving it gas.

I dont even think you need to give it 10,000 rev's.....start off small though and see what happens, then you wont end up on your back with your bike doin' backflips down the road

2nd gear clutchups just like i do on the R6. the gearing is different tho so you have to give it more throttle.

I just started learning today, just went out and took the first step.. which i was told to just go in first around 4k rpm (after a bit of messing around I found it easier for me to go around 5-6k, about 35 mph) and just drop the throttle then bring it back up quick... simple roll on, no clutch involved, after only a few tries I was bringing the bike up close to BP a couple times, and at least a foot or two off the ground the rest of the time. I've been nervous as hell to start learning, afraid i'd loop it, but rolling on the throttle in first was very easy for me.... give a try, even if you only get it maybe a foot off the ground, it's still a start to getting the feel of the front end coming up. Or you could always try Shorty's method... that's a Gauranteed 12! you'll be wheelie king in your town!!!:worship

r1fanatic, you should try bouncing it in 2nd or clutching it 2nd. i went +3 in the back, and usually clutch my sitdowns at around 35mph.

I would love to be able to wheelie...but the fear of looping has a strong hold on me. The bike has come up on me a lil while accelerating, but no more than a foot and it happens pretty fast.
